Dental Cleanings & Checkups in Anderson Township, OH & Cold Springs, KY
Preventive dentistry is the best way to protect the health and appearance of your teeth. At Wright Dental Center, we promote your oral health with effective, gentle, and modern preventive dentistry.
Periodic Dental Exams
Even if you have excellent dental health, periodic dental exams allow us to measure trends in your oral health history and make any diagnoses early, when problems are easier to treat.
We start with a complete exam of your teeth, gums, and jaw to ascertain the health of your teeth, your bite and jaw function. We also look for signs of decay and any suspicious lesions that may indicate oral cancer. Dr. Bo Wright will inform you of any potential conditions and make you aware of any changes he sees regarding your oral health.
At your dental exam, we also take gum measurements. Your gums should fit snugly next to your teeth. If pocketing occurs, it is an indication of periodontal (gum) disease. We treat most periodontal conditions in our office with cleanings designed to remove bacteria and tartar.
Professional Dental Cleanings
Our dental hygienists are gentle, thorough and dedicated to making you as comfortable as possible during the cleaning. After gently removing tartar and plaque from your teeth, we will polish your teeth to give you that clean, fresh feeling.
Digital Dental X-Rays
Dental x-rays are the best way to detect decay and other problems in their earliest stages. At both our Cold Spring, KY and Cincinnati, Ohio dental offices, we use state-of-the-art 3D digital dental x-rays for their accuracy and safety.
Digital dental x-rays emit up to 80% less radiation than traditional film x-rays, making them among the lowest radiation x-rays in the dental and medical fields. Not only are they safer for humans, but they are also better for our environment since there's no need for the chemicals used to develop traditional x-ray film.
Accuracy is critical when making diagnoses and recommending dental work. With our advanced digital imaging technology, we can examine high-resolution images closely, adjust the contrast, and zoom in for a closer look at any areas that look suspicious.
Fluoride treatments help strengthen enamel and also protect against tooth decay. We provide fluoride treatments for children, who are particularly prone to tooth decay, but fluoride can also help adults who with excessive decay or tooth sensitivity.
Sealants create a barrier between bacteria and the chewing surface of your teeth. We apply them in the grooves of your teeth where decay most often occurs, and they can last for up to five years. At that point, we can replace them, if necessary.
Sealants are most often recommended for children, who tend to be less diligent about brushing properly, but we also recommend sealants for adults with a history of tooth decay. Sealants are typically applied to the back teeth, since these teeth have more distinct grooves that can trap food particles that are hard to reach with a toothbrush. The application process is quick and painless.
