Recent Changes in Preventative Antibiotics before Dental Visits

In the past it was recommended that patients with artificial joint replacements take an antibiotic before having any preventative or restorative dental care preformed. As of January 1, 2016 the ADA changed the protocol. The reason in the past for doing so was the concern of a patient contracting bacteremia.
