If you have one or more missing teeth, you may struggle to bite or chew certain foods, or be embarrassed to talk and smile. Having many missing or failing teeth can result in changes to your facial appearance, a decline in your health, and increased self-consciousness. Whether you’re missing one tooth or twenty, dental implants are the ideal permanent solution! These lifelong tooth replacements restore your oral health and smile aesthetics, and even improve your jaw health … and they’ll continue to do so for decades! Our team at the Wright Dental Center is experienced in providing dental implants in Cold Spring, KY, Hebron, KY, Union, KY, and Cincinnati, OH, and we can help you achieve a new smile and improved life with dental implant surgery.
Dental implants are permanent false teeth made up of three components: a post, which is usually made of titanium or zirconium and surgically implanted into your jawbone; an abutment, which sticks out from the post and provides a place for the new tooth to sit; and the restoration, which is the part we fabricate to match your remaining teeth. The restoration attaches to the abutment and mimics the appearance and function of your missing teeth.
Every mouth is different, and every mouth will require different implant options. At Wright Dental Center, we offer a variety of options for dental implant surgery:
If you’re missing a single tooth due to injury or decay, this can lead to larger issues in your mouth and jaw. Your teeth may shift to slightly fill in the gap, or you may find yourself unable to chew certain foods. Replacing the missing tooth with an implant is a permanent solution to these problems, allowing you to care for the replacement tooth just as you would a natural one.
Replacing multiple teeth can involve bridges and crowns that need replacement every five to 10 years, or partial dentures that require adhesive and can introduce dietary restrictions. You can have multiple teeth replaced by implants using only one post, however, creating a lifelong solution to the problem of multiple missing or failing teeth.
Implant-supported dentures are removable dentures that attach to surgically implanted posts. Unlike traditional dentures, these attach to your mouth very securely and don’t require adhesive to remain in place. They also limit jaw recession.
If you have many missing or failing teeth, you may qualify for full mouth dental implants. These implants permanently attach to four or more posts, which are implanted into the arch of your jaw.
If you’ve had a previous dental implant that isn’t working out, we provide restorations and replacements to get your mouth back into its top condition.
At the Wright Dental Center, we aim to make the process of getting dental implants as streamlined and pain-free as possible! The process begins with a free consultation in our offices in Cold Spring, KY, Hebron, KY, Union, KY, or Cincinnati, OH, where we discuss your medical history, learn your goals, and take a detailed 3D scan of your mouth and jaw to determine whether you’re a good candidate for dental implants. Once we create your custom treatment plan, you’ll undergo surgery. This may involve extracting teeth or performing bone grafts, but rest assured whatever your individual situation calls for, our CBCT technology will allow us to perform precision surgery on your mouth.
During the surgery, you’ll be sedated, spending the whole time resting comfortably. In many cases, we can attach a temporary tooth replacement the same day! As your mouth heals over the next several months, you’ll be able to eat comfortably and enjoy a fully restored smile, right up until you receive your permanent, custom-made dental implant restoration.
Nearly everyone qualifies for dental implants. If you are in generally good health, there’s a good chance that dental implants can help improve your quality of life.
You may experience some pain and swelling immediately after your surgery, but once your implants take hold, they should feel just like normal teeth.
Dental implant surgery can take about 2.5 hours per arch for full arch dental implants. For single teeth, the procedure takes anywhere from 1 to 2 hours.
It takes about 3 months to recover from the initial implant surgery. After the swelling has gone down, we can create the dental restoration that will sit permanently on the implant.
