What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants near Cincinnati, OH are permanent false teeth made up of three components: a post, which is usually made of titanium or zirconium and surgically implanted into your jawbone; an abutment, which sticks out from the post and provides a place for the new tooth to sit; and the restoration, which is the part we fabricate to match your remaining teeth.

The restoration attaches to the abutment and mimics the appearance and function of your missing teeth.

Unique Options for A Unique Smile

Dental Implant Options Near Cincinnati

Every mouth is different, and every mouth will require different implant options. At Wright Dental Center, we offer a variety of options for dental implant surgery:

Single Tooth Replacements

If you’re missing a single tooth due to injury or decay, this can lead to larger issues in your mouth and jaw. Your teeth may shift to slightly fill in the gap, or you may find yourself unable to chew certain foods. Replacing the missing tooth with an implant is a permanent solution to these problems, allowing you to care for the replacement tooth just as you would a natural one.

Multiple Tooth Replacements

Replacing multiple teeth can involve bridges and crowns that need replacement every five to 10 years, or partial dentures that require adhesive and can introduce dietary restrictions. You can have multiple teeth replaced by implants using only one post, however, creating a lifelong solution to the problem of multiple missing or failing teeth.

Implant-Supported Dentures

Implant-supported dentures are removable dentures that attach to surgically implanted posts. Unlike traditional dentures, these attach to your mouth very securely and don’t require adhesive to remain in place. They also limit jaw recession.

Full Mouth Dental Implants

If you have many missing or failing teeth, you may qualify for full mouth dental implants. These implants permanently attach to four or more posts, which are implanted into the arch of your jaw.

Implant Restoration and Replacement

If you’ve had a previous dental implant that isn’t working out, we provide restorations and replacements to get your mouth back into its top condition.

Frequently Asked Questions About Dental Implants

Nearly everyone qualifies for dental implants. If you are in generally good health, there’s a good chance that dental implants can help improve your quality of life.

You may experience some pain and swelling immediately after your surgery, but once your implants take hold, they should feel just like normal teeth.

Dental implant surgery can take about 2.5 hours per arch for full arch dental implants. For single teeth, the procedure takes anywhere from 1 to 2 hours.

It takes about 3 months to recover from the initial implant surgery. After the swelling has gone down, we can create the dental restoration that will sit permanently on the implant.
