Sedation Dentistry

Don't let fear of the dentist stop you

Sedation dentistry is a common tool used for patients that may feel anxious over visiting the dentist.

Cold Spring Sedation Dentistry

Dental anxiety is not a problem at Wright Dental Center.

Patients often express their fears surrounding the dentist and painful past experiences. Dr. Bo Wright provides Cold Spring patients with sedation solutions to ensure pain-free, anxiety-free dentistry no matter the duration or intensity of the procedure. Don't put off dental work any longer, your oral health - and overall health - depend on it.

Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous oxide is a mild sedative medication used to help calm dental nerves. Nitrous oxide is commonly referred to as "laughing gas" because patients may experience feelings of elation or euphoria. This form of sedation is effective in relaxing patients throughout their appointments.

Nitrous oxide is administered through a mask placed over the nose. The level of sedation will be controlled and adjusted throughout your appointment to maintain comfort. Nitrous oxide enters and leaves your system quickly enough for you to drive yourself home after your appointment. Its mild nature makes it safe for use with children who have difficulty getting through dentist appointments.

Cold Spring Oral Sedation Dentistry

Oral Sedation Dentistry

Patients with high anxiety may require a stronger form of sedation. Oral sedation medication in pill form taken before a dental treatment helps patients relax, manage their gag reflex and can also calm those who have trouble with numbing needles.

Oral sedation patients will remain conscious during their treatment but will be perfectly relaxed and will lose their sense of time. This makes oral sedation useful for extensive treatments, time will fly by. Patients who have difficulty getting numb can count on pain-free visits.

Oral sedation medication will wear off throughout the day and you may feel groggy immediately after treatment. You will need someone to drive you home from your appointment while you recover.

IV Sedation Dentistry

Certain procedures including implant placements, extractions and other surgeries may require IV sedation for complete relaxation during treatment. Enjoy a pain-free, anxiety-free experience while receiving the best dental care in Kentucky. IV sedation dentistry allows patients to experience the full effects of sedation throughout the duration of treatments.

Your sedation levels will be controlled by our experienced nurse anesthetist, ensuring your comfort the whole way through treatment.
